ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE

The architectural significance of the area will be protected as we aim to revitalise the building by keeping the exterior facade as it is a recognizable and iconic structure of the docklands.

PROTECTING THE HERITAGE

There will be a great emphasis on protecting the heritage of the site- this will be done by creating a history corner with the use of art and literature to tell the story of the docklands for those making use of the site or simply walking past. Similar to the project like ‘The Line’ in the olympic park which is a free, open and accessible to all art installation walk so we will incorporate this idea to tell the story of the docklands. We hope that this allow the local community to feel that there history is also celebrated. This will also be promoted to the local schools of newham and east london to encourage school trips to the site consequently meaning that they will also make use of other facilities in the development such as cafes and open spaces.

HERITAGE VALUE

Our development hopes to add to the heritage value by making the site and its buildings more iconic for example by making it an exemplar energy efficient building through features such as sustainable water collection systems. This will add to the heritage value and ensure it is protected further in the future.

Strategic fit

Strategic fit

CONNECTIVTY

The development aims to improve the connectivity of the site, building on and strategically fitting The Nationwide High Speed Rail scheme. This will also allow the London Docklands to become a financial district and improve the local economy.

HERITAGE

The protection of the heritage and celebration of the local history is a key factor in the development with the conservation of the significant architectural structures and features such as ‘The History Walk’.

REVITALIZE

Revitalising the waterfront and creating attractive landscaping of open green space to be used by the public will improve the public realm. With multi uses of the site such as markets, festivals and art shows the development will strategically fit with the GLA’S intentions to create a mixed use development.

THE ECONOMY

The development strategically fits with policies aimed at creating jobs and funding into the local and greater London's economy as the regeneration aims to be Sustainable , environmentally, socially and economically.
